Julie McCullough's patterns are great for beginners because the forms are simple and the faces (using the little button eyes) are wonderful for those who feel daunted by more complex painted/pencil coloured ones. That said - they also lend themselves to wonderful embellishing and many "advanced" dollmakers will still come back to her patterns because they are so whimsical. I own probably more of Julie's patterns more than any other designer and have made The Fisherman, Pearl Diver, Pumpkin Moon, Frog Suit, Secret Keeper and Fairy Houses. All turned out well and are often admired by people.
