I adore all of Sherry's work. Her pattern pieces fit and she has patterns for all levels of dollmaking. If you have a question about anything about a pattern she is glad to help.
I disagree with the previous comment. I have written her with assistance on two instances, and not even a reply was recieved.
Hmm, that is surprising as I've even had her answer a 2am e-mail before dawn!
Sherry's patterns are pretty basic, so they are a good one for beginners, but she always throws in something unique so it is fun even for more expreienced dollmakes. I also own a few of her face molds and they are well made with no flaws or burrs. I've also taken classes with Sherry and, in addition to being a great teacher, she is highly entertaining so you know you'll spend the day laughing.
One thing to remember, Sherry, as well as Patti Culea, spends a lot of time on the road - sometimes up to two months in Australia. So it can be easy for an email to get 'lost' when you do not have regular access to a computer.
I have made quite a few of Sherry's patterns and they go together quite well.
The latest pattern of hers I made was the eyeglass case doll - very, very interesting piece. Looks complicated but the step by step directions are very easy to follow. She has pages of diagrams too so between the text and the illustrations it is easy to assemble.
Don't know who you are since you didn't give your name...but by all means email me again...from time to time yahoo seems to dump my emails in spam or I don't get them at all...if someone asks I am always one to help as much as I can...Love Sherry
I do not think there are enough instructions in Sherry's patterns.
I also think they are poorly drawn and do not fit together as well as they could. The patterns look as though they are quickly put on the market without enough care and thought into their appearance or quality.
I'm finding anonymous comments tiresome ... I have almost every single one of Sherry Goshon's patterns either by purchase or free from doll publications ... I have made more of Sherry's dolls than I care to count ... yes, the patterns are basic ... yes there aren't a lot of written instructions but there are diagrams ... frankly, I don't want to read a book ... I want to make a doll ... so the simplicity suits me just fine ...I have never had a pattern not fit ... even when i make other people's patterns more often than not i will use Sherry's body pattern because i prefer the shape & I know for certainty that you will not have blown fingers from her hand patterns ... i use them allthe time because they are so reliable ...I needed to ask Sherry a question about her boudoir doll ... I received an instant reply with an offer to send me a pic ... may I suggest anonymous takes an on-line class with Sherry where you will be treated to more instructions & detailed step by step photos than you care to imagine ... having been in both on-line classes & hands on classes I can highly recommend the wonderful learning experience & you will never have a problem with Sherry's patterns again ...
Sherry is one of my favorite designers...love her patterns! I have never had a bit of trouble making any of them! I have purchased some and have gotten tons of "freebies" through her generous gifts with challenges and in magazines. I grab Cloth Dolls and Animals magazine if I know she'll have something in it! I have never tried using molds...I am satisfied just do them in cloth with excellent results!
